Weekly Weigh in #20, #21 and #22

Consistency in blogging is good so that people know when to expects posts. Great advice that I don't follow. Just like in trainer school when we learned never to write on the board and talk at the same time because you're talking to the wall. I failed that part too. Except now when I do train I tell my class all the things I'm doing wrong. Breaking down that 3rd wall.

So, I haven't done a weekly weigh-in recap because I haven't really had much to say. Since coming back from DC, the scale has been a little bitch. My food has been pretty decent, I've limited my non-Jenny food to only the weekends and last week I had sushi lunch on Monday.  I expected to see a little more movement, especially since I'm only down one net pound for September.

I think everyone who's working on losing weight goes though this and it can be weeks of no movement on the scale even though we're doing what we're supposed to. That's when a lot of people give up, but I still have 31 pounds to go and stopping now doesn't get me there.

Workouts
Every week I worked out at least 3 times. Well, most weeks were on;y 3, not 4. I have a dumb injury right now that I got in yoga class. Yes, yoga. I was in the triangle pose, straightened my left leg and heard a pop and it's been sore and unhappy for the last 3 weeks.
Really, who does that? It's not terrible but my leg wasn't thrilled when I ran the North Hills 5k on September 10th. I've still been going to kickboxing and lifting weights. I ran a little and it's not awesome the next day. I went to the chiropractor yesterday and showed him where it was and he said it was probably my hamstring. Ugh..

Last week:
Saturday - Garage Sale No workout
Sunday - Yoga
Monday- Body Comabt
Tuesday - Meeting at NCSU
Wednesday - I convinced Kev to take me to the movies. We saw Sully and it was a lot of Tom Hanks looking pensive.
Thursday - Body Pump
Friday - My jeans were too big and I went shopping for new ones

What I'm eating this week

I apparently deleted all my food pictures. Last week I had sushi lunch and it was delish. I also rediscovered my love of JC cheeseburgers which is interesting because burger meat scares me. I had food poisoning from a burger several years ago and it takes a LOT for me to eat one. For some reason I love the JC one. I swear there's crack in the food.

Weeks 20, 21 and 22 in order.

I really think that one of the best things I've done this time is to take a picture each week to see the visual difference even when the scale isn't moving.

I felt a difference in my pants the last 3 weeks and there was a pair that buttoned and was wearable but not great, that went to fitting pretty well the next week. Then on Friday I went on a hunt for new jeans and it went surprisingly well. I found 3 pairs of jeans, all in a 10, that fit well and didn't make me sad. Yay.

I guess the moral of the story is that the scale can be a jerk and to keep pushing because it'll eventually catch up.

Oh, and don't forget there's still a few days left to sign up for the GYPO Style challenge! It closes Friday and the outfits start on Monday!

Have a great week!

Weekly Weigh-In #14

After 2 less than stellar weeks on the scale, I FINALLY saw -20 pounds! 20.6 pounds in 14 weeks averages to 1.47 (we'll call it 1.5) pounds per week. For a female of may advanced age, I should be just fine with that. I was a little cranky, I really wanted get to (1st) halfway this week. If I get there next week, that's just fine. I have to remember that this is never a short process for me and if I get to -58 in less than a year, I'm OK with that, it took me a full year to lose 50 the last time.

Workouts
Saturday - Sat in the stupid hot at Kev's tennis tournament
Sunday - Run 2.32 miles, Body Flow
Monday- Body Pump
Tuesday - Nada
Wednesday - Body Combat
Thursday - Body Pump
Friday - Nope

I've been to a lot of Body Pump the last week and a half. I know strength training is important and I know muscle weighs less than fat, but I might need to switch my workouts to focus more on cardio. Maybe... It's all a work in progress and I still haven't been able to find a decent correlation to type of workout to food to weight loss any give week.

What I'm eating this week

I remembered to take a picture! This is the JC lasagna and a side of sauteed spinach. I ate it and it was good.

Picture
I wasn't 100% thrilled with any of the pictures I took this week. I wore this polka dot dress that I'd only worn once last year. I was convinced at the time that I was pushing the boundaries of it then, so I put it in the back of the closet. I pulled it out and felt better in it, but then I did a side by side comparison and I don't know, I don't see much of a difference between the 2.

Maybe some in the waist? Ehhh...

Cheats
We went to the Capital Grill last week and I ate all the things. I have no regrets.

Monthly Goals
How'd I do last month?

1. Run 1x per week? YES
2. Eat off plan 1x per week? Nope. I really don't know of that's reasonable. I need to learn how to not gain 45 pounds eating non JC food.
3. Lose 7 pounds? Nope. I lost 4.6. It was a slow loss month for me (probably due to the food) I think I still have some bigger losses in me, I just need to focus on the food and creating a decent calorie deficit.

On to August goals!
1. Six, can we get six pounds?
2. Keep on running!
3. I might regret this one. I'm discovering that if I don't go to the gym, I don't meet Apple Watch's active calorie goal of 590. I work in an office, at a desk. Even getting up often, I can't get there. Last night Kev and I walked all over DT Raleigh and I hit the 30 minute exercise goal, but only 457 out of 590 active calories. If it wasn't hot as Hades, I'd go for a walk at lunch. Instead I drive to get coffee #2 each day.

Here's to a great August!

Weekly Weigh-In Recap #11

For real, this is week 11. I counted and double counted and counted again and this, yes, this is week #11. Here's what happens. I Weigh-in, have my consultation and while she's getting the food, I make the image on an the VanillaPen App. But she's fast and I get distracted and then I f-up my images. I should just wait until I get into the car, but nooooo, I have to do it right then, because I'm impatient.

Anywho, after losing 1 pound in 2 weeks, I was super excited to see -2.4 on the scale! Hooooray! And, since I can't add, that's -18.4. OR just -4.1 to halfway of my original goal but really, it's -10.6 to my revised goal. I was a little nervous because I did some baking (and tasting) for a poker game Kev had at the house and a pie bake-off at work Friday. I can't control myself around a batter bowl.

My consultant was really happy for me, and she said she wanted to bottle my attitude and give it to some of her other people. That I almost make it look easy.
Damn
Losing weight and being on a plan is never easy. But neither is being overweight and unhappy with yourself. I've tried and tried a multitude of plans over the years and Jenny is the one thing that consistently works for me. If I were to quit before reaching my goal, what would I do? Really, what would I do? Go on my own? Obviously that doesn't work for me, so the only option I have is to stay focused on the Jenny plan and let it work. When you have exactly one option, it's not that hard make the right choice.

Workouts
Saturday - Body Pump
Sunday - Body Flow
Monday-  4th of July - 4 on the Fourth Run in Carborro
Tuesday - Rest
Wednesday - Body Combat
Thursday - Rest and bake all the things
Friday - 3.3 mile treadmill run

It's taken a while but I'm finally starting to feel like I'm getting some of my fitness back. I think a big reason is that I'm just moving almost 20lbs less of myself around. I'm getting into deeper stretches in Body Flow, I'm almost back to my old weights in Body Pump, I'm only like 5lbs away in each track, and I;m running faster and longer before I want to die. Progress yo.

What I'm eating this Week
Have you seen this stuff? When you buy it, there's a powder in the top and you smoosh it down and mix it with the water. There's a bunch of different flavors with different benefits but this one is my favorite.

I've seen them in several places, I got my first one at Whole Foods where it's the most expensive. Harris Teeter had them on sale for 2 for $3 last week which is the best I've seen. When I'm super sweaty after a workout and never re-hydrate, I have this and it makes me feel immediately better, 20 calories for the entire bottle isn't shabby.

Picture

I didn't have a great one this week, but I did wear this for 'Murica Day at work (and the pie contest). You were encouraged to dress in your best "America" themed outfit. I ordered this Reagan shirt off Amazon and it was perfect. Sneering Reagan, "I smell hippies". And my super-fly Lularoe leggings.

I'll try and get a better one this week

Cheats
I had quite a bit of non-jenny food this week and I was a little nervous, especially with the baking treats.
Saturday - Dinner at Mothers and Sons in Durham - amazing. I recapped it in my last blog post.
Sunday -

Kev made yummy steak and I had veggies. Not really off plan, since it was 4-ish ounces and no starch.
Thursday - Omg, I made 2 pies, chocolate chip meringue bars, bacon yummy nuts and blueberry muffins (I burnt them but put my finger in the batter before I did). While I was making food, I knew I had to do something to salvage my weigh-in in 2 days. Instead of having Jenny dinner, I had 3.5 oz of plain chicken breast and some zucchini noodles and no dessert. I guess it paid off!

Ugh, off to a full week of work, can't they all be 4 day weeks??

Here's to another week of losses!
