Weekly Weigh-In Recap #11

For real, this is week 11. I counted and double counted and counted again and this, yes, this is week #11. Here's what happens. I Weigh-in, have my consultation and while she's getting the food, I make the image on an the VanillaPen App. But she's fast and I get distracted and then I f-up my images. I should just wait until I get into the car, but nooooo, I have to do it right then, because I'm impatient.

Anywho, after losing 1 pound in 2 weeks, I was super excited to see -2.4 on the scale! Hooooray! And, since I can't add, that's -18.4. OR just -4.1 to halfway of my original goal but really, it's -10.6 to my revised goal. I was a little nervous because I did some baking (and tasting) for a poker game Kev had at the house and a pie bake-off at work Friday. I can't control myself around a batter bowl.

My consultant was really happy for me, and she said she wanted to bottle my attitude and give it to some of her other people. That I almost make it look easy.
Damn
Losing weight and being on a plan is never easy. But neither is being overweight and unhappy with yourself. I've tried and tried a multitude of plans over the years and Jenny is the one thing that consistently works for me. If I were to quit before reaching my goal, what would I do? Really, what would I do? Go on my own? Obviously that doesn't work for me, so the only option I have is to stay focused on the Jenny plan and let it work. When you have exactly one option, it's not that hard make the right choice.

Workouts
Saturday - Body Pump
Sunday - Body Flow
Monday-  4th of July - 4 on the Fourth Run in Carborro
Tuesday - Rest
Wednesday - Body Combat
Thursday - Rest and bake all the things
Friday - 3.3 mile treadmill run

It's taken a while but I'm finally starting to feel like I'm getting some of my fitness back. I think a big reason is that I'm just moving almost 20lbs less of myself around. I'm getting into deeper stretches in Body Flow, I'm almost back to my old weights in Body Pump, I'm only like 5lbs away in each track, and I;m running faster and longer before I want to die. Progress yo.

What I'm eating this Week
Have you seen this stuff? When you buy it, there's a powder in the top and you smoosh it down and mix it with the water. There's a bunch of different flavors with different benefits but this one is my favorite.

I've seen them in several places, I got my first one at Whole Foods where it's the most expensive. Harris Teeter had them on sale for 2 for $3 last week which is the best I've seen. When I'm super sweaty after a workout and never re-hydrate, I have this and it makes me feel immediately better, 20 calories for the entire bottle isn't shabby.

Picture

I didn't have a great one this week, but I did wear this for 'Murica Day at work (and the pie contest). You were encouraged to dress in your best "America" themed outfit. I ordered this Reagan shirt off Amazon and it was perfect. Sneering Reagan, "I smell hippies". And my super-fly Lularoe leggings.

I'll try and get a better one this week

Cheats
I had quite a bit of non-jenny food this week and I was a little nervous, especially with the baking treats.
Saturday - Dinner at Mothers and Sons in Durham - amazing. I recapped it in my last blog post.
Sunday -

Kev made yummy steak and I had veggies. Not really off plan, since it was 4-ish ounces and no starch.
Thursday - Omg, I made 2 pies, chocolate chip meringue bars, bacon yummy nuts and blueberry muffins (I burnt them but put my finger in the batter before I did). While I was making food, I knew I had to do something to salvage my weigh-in in 2 days. Instead of having Jenny dinner, I had 3.5 oz of plain chicken breast and some zucchini noodles and no dessert. I guess it paid off!

Ugh, off to a full week of work, can't they all be 4 day weeks??

Here's to another week of losses!

Weekly Weigh-in #10

Another week, another weigh-in! Down another -.6, which isn't terrible considering last week's big loss. I'm averaging 1.5 pounds a week, which is OK with me. It was a bit of an odd week. Kev was out of town, but I was really tired all week. Cleo slept in the room with me and she's not always the quietest of animals. I'm guessing that's why I didn't get the greatest of sleeps.

So, when I started back on Jenny 10 weeks ago, I posted that I wanted to get back to my original JC goal of 160. Well, the more I thought about it, the more I felt like I wanted more. The last time i was just tired of everything, mainly because it took me something like 2 months to lose the last 5 pounds. Since it was such a big accomplishment, I stopped. For a while the next year I went back to try and lose 10 more, but I wasn't committed. But I still wanted to get to 150. For a while I've had a number in my head of what I want the final goal to be. I told my JC consultant on Saturday what I wanted but I wasn't sure. She said we were going for it. That's the new number and we're going to hit it.

147.
Let's go.

Workouts
Saturday - I had a hair appointment in the morning and I just didn't go afterwards.
Sunday - Ran 30 min on the treadmill then Body Pump
Monday - Chiropractor
Tuesday - Ran 50ish minutes
Wednesday - nada
Thursday - Body Pump
Friday - Went to the gym and I just wasn't feeling it. So I left. You just have those days every now and then.

What I'm Eating This Week

There's a Kroger right next door to the Jenny Center and most mornings I head over there afterwards. it's really convenient and they have pretty good prices on produce. A pound of cherries was $2.99 the last 2 weeks and grapes $1.49lb. :) Well, I've passed this popcorn a few times and I finally bought some. Kev and I both LOVE it. LOVE. 3 cups is 130 calories which is in line for my Jenny snack.

I don't see a huge difference between this week and last and I'm still not quite happy with most of my old pants. Last Spring, I know I was able to wear certain pants and right now they button uncomfortably which makes me super salty. That tells me I gained more than 15 pounds in the last year, which is insane. There's no reason for me to gain 15 pounds in a year. I attribute some of that to stress, some to being injured for several months and having to go to PT. The rest is just from eating too much. I've never gained that much weight that quickly.

Cheats
I ate out 3 times last week, which is more than usual, but I don't think it was too too bad.
Saturday - Veggie sub from subway with no dressing
Sunday - Brunch, I had a Salmon Salad with no dressing. I counted it as lunch then ate my breakfast muffin in the afternoon
Monday - Kev and I went out before he left and we went to the 42nd Street Oyster bar. We had bacon wrapped scallops for an appetizer, (OMG) then I had crab legs with a little bit of butter, steamed veggies as a side and 2 hush puppies. It was super tasty. Thankfully I had the rest of the week to work it off.

That was my week! Here's to another good one!

Weekly Weigh-in #9

Yea, I really didn't see that coming. I was odd though, I 'felt' that I had a 3 pound loss in me, somewhere. I thought it at the last weigh-in, and this week I felt pretty good. I'm finally starting to feel a difference in my clothes, and a few people commented that I looked like I'd lost some weight.

I swear, someone telling you you look smaller is such a rush. It just puts you in a better mood, and you feel happier. On the other hand, I could go on about body positivity and how we should love our bodies regardless of size and why does someone saying you look smaller, make you feel so good? I get it, I do, but I'm losing weight for me, because it makes me feel better and, at my height and bone structure, there's no healthy reason for me to weigh this month.

At -15, that officially puts me 1/3 of the way to my goal weight. The more I think about it though, I want to go further. I stopped at 160 last time because honestly, I was tired of dieting, It took over a year to get there and I was done. I'm curious to see how long it takes me to get back there this time. But I have another number in my head, it's been popping up for a while and I think it's going to be my ultimate goal. Fingers crossed it won't take an entire year to get to 160, But this time, I'm going for more.

Workouts
Saturday - Ran the Komen 5k
Sunday - Body Flow
Monday - Chiropractor. When he told me to run more instead of spinning
Tuesday - Ran on the Treadmill - 3.15 miles
Wednesday - Got my nails done. I was super hungry that day too and working out wasn't happening.
Thursday - Ran on the Treadmill - 3.25 miles
Friday - Nada. We went to see the Conjuring 2.... Kev owes me for that one.

What I'm eating this Week
I haven't been drinking a lot of water, and I know I should drink more. I don't drink soda, I haven't had a non-diet soda since I was 15? Then 6 years ago I discovered I was allergic to aspartame and no more diet sodas. Three years ago I stopped with most artificial sweeteners. That leaves coffee (no sugar), unsweet tea, and sparkling water. I was looking for something to add flavor to water to make me drink more and I came across the True Lemon/Lime/Orange line. It's all natural, has cane sugar and stevia, 3 carbs, 10 calories per packet. I use 1/2  a pack in 16oz of water and I only use 1 or 1 1/2 packs per day and that's 32 - 48oz of water that I wasn't drinking before. I'll take it! Especially if the scale keeps heading downward and tasty water doesn't make me stall. (FU gum)

Pictures
I did a little shopping last weekend and got this shirt, which is really cute. I debated between the Med and the Large. I probably should have gone with the Med, the large is already a little big under the arms.

I made a little side by side comparison for #TransformationTuesday. Week one to week 8, was 11.5-ish pounds and I was starting to see a difference.

It's crazy though, I felt really "fluffy" in the outfit I wore Friday. It just goes to show how the cut of a shirt / pair of pants can make you look.

Cheats
I didn't eat off plan this week, i had my "cheat" meal the Friday before when I had Subway for lunch and sushi for dinner. I still had 7 days to work it off. Weds I had a "hungry day" and I ended up eating an extra serving of fruit and a cheese stick. I've also eaten a piece of hard candy before working out (oooooo hard candy). One piece counts as a Limited Free Food, and I can have up to 3 of those per day.

I made this, because it's so true.

One more thing, Kev and I went through a bunch of bags of clothes that were in the spare bedroom for a a future garage sale. There were clothes I put in there when I thought it would be a long long time before I could ever fit into them again.  Now that I actually see a path to losing weight, I pulled out some of the things I wanted to keep.

I call this the "The Closet of Dreams"

I should be able to visit this closet in about 10 more pounds or so.

I hope everyone had a great weekend! Here's to another successful week!

Scenes from the Weekend

Every Monday you all are subjected to looking at what I did the previous weekend. Well, this weekend, it was a whole lot of nothing. Seriously, big old pile of nothing.

Thursday I was supposed to go to Body Pump but my back was bothering me and I felt a bit of  cold coming on so I decided to skip and Kev and I went to see Jurassic World instead.

I thought it was awesome. Dinosaurs and drama and eating people, fantastic. As I was watching it, I realized I'd never seen the original movie. Yes, I'm the only person who hadn't seen it. In my defense, there's an entire chunk of movies / TV Shows from the mid-90s that I've never seen and I blame it on being in college. We had no $ to go to the movies and I wasn't exactly setting my VCR to record Seinfeld. Hence, the 202 episodes of the X-Files I'm currently watching. Can I just take a moment and say that Mulder and Skully are some of the worst agents ever? Seriously, Skully has been abducted 4 times now. FOUR FLIPPING TIMES and  it's only episode 44. She STILL goes places alone. NEVER GO INTO A DARK ALLEY BY YOURSELF SKULLY!!! But I digress...

Friday night Kev had rehearsal and instead of going to the gym, I still felt like I was getting a cold and a sore throat, so I stayed home, watched Netflix with the dog and diffused some OnGuard.

Saturday morning I slept in, it was delightful. Then Kev and I went to look at houses, We decided to take a Chapel Hill run to see if I'd be willing to live there. We did see some houses we liked but I'm not 100% sold, I like living in Raleigh and want to stay in Raleigh. I'm still convinced that when the time comes and we sell this house, We'll find something that will work for us... in Raleigh. :) Thankfully no booger houses this time. BTW - someone bought the booger house! Ugh, I do hope they paid a decent amount for it, boogers an all, it's a comp for our house.

Then we stopped at a birthday party and headed to Nantucket Grill for dinner. After we got home, I rented Jurassic Park for .99. Started watching and ...yep, never seen it before.

Jeff Goldblum was the best part of the movie. I have no idea what he was there to do except try and be sexy? He was a mathematician or something but the other 2 actually knew something about dinosaurs. He didn't seem to be an expert on anything pertinent. Maybe he was and I just missed it? He really seemed to spend an extraordinarily long time shirtless and what was up with those tinted glasses?.

For more Goldblum check this out.

Sunday morning I got up and headed to 1030 am Body Pump class. The classes at the gym close to me are in the afternoon but it was worth it to drive a bit and get my workout out of the way. I haven't really been posting about my workouts recently, really, they've been nothing special. It's hot as heck so I just want to get in, do my workout and get out. Which is what I did this morning.

So, gym, shower, grocery shopping, computer work and then Kev and I headed to dinner. Now it's bloggy time. Yea, totally uninteresting and low key weekend.

Tell me you did something fun this weekend!
