Scenes from the Weekend

Me again. The last 2 weeks have been pretty crazy with work and other commitments and the blog thing just wasn't happening. I was feeling really stressed about some life things (which I realized why on Saturday, more on that in another post) and this just fell by the way-side. It's not the first time and probably won't be the last. So is life.

So, what happened this weekend? I'm gonna take it all the way back to Thursday. Kev and I had plans Thursday and Friday night since he was heading out of town on Saturday morning. Now, before anyone scolds me for revealing that he's gone, my brother is staying with us for a while and my dog isn't a fan of people she doesn't know. I'll be just fine.

Thursday we went to see Sausage Party. It's a naughty, naughty movie and I have the sense of humor of a 13 year old boy and I thought it was hysterical. My favorite part was when the sausage recreated a scene from Meatloaf's "I'd do anything for love" video. I was CRYING. I might have been the only person in the theater who got the reference and it was spectacular.

Friday I found the video on-line and seriously, wtf is going on? Is he the Beast, is he a vampire, why is there an investigator, why is that chick levitating? So many explosions. Then I discovered it was directed by a young Michael Bay. Michael Bay, Meatloaf, Steinman, it's a trifecta of epic proportions.

If you have any idea what's going on, please let me know.

Friday was a regular work day and I left a little early because we had tickets at DPAC to see Newsies!

Before the show we went to Vin Rouge for some dinner. For the first time in perhaps, ever, I didn't order the tartare OR a cosmo. I had to weigh in the next morning dontcha know.

Instead I had the duck confit salad. It was tasty, but tartare and frites it was not.

Off to the show!

I knew nothing about Newsies. Nada. I knew it was a Disney movie and about the newspaper. I was pretty sure there was a fight. I turned out to be right on all counts.

It was a great production, The story was pretty basic, it had some good songs (Hamilton it was not) but the dancing, OMG the DANCING was AMAZING! So talented. It was highly entertaining,

Saturday morning Kev headed off on his road trip and I went to my Jenny appointment. It wasn't awesome and I was up .8 pounds. I ate out the last 2 nights, only worked out 3 times and I had far too many bites and tastes of things I didn't account for. It happens. I hate it, but it happens. I weighed myself this afternoon and I'd already lost the .8 I was up yesterday morning. I knew it was fake.

Oh, and Jenny debuted 5 new meals Saturday. Sadly they were in the store, but not in the computer, so I couldn't buy them. My consultant felt bad for me and gave me a free veggie fritata.

Then I went to Body Pump. I've talked before about the annoying old dude who attends that class, well Saturday he was in full on annoying mode. He wanders around during the class, shouts at people in the middle of songs, yells at the instructor and he thinks it's funny. There was a point in the next to the last track (abs) when he put his stuff away and walked over and was harassing a lady in the back of the room.

I swear, if he was still in the class or outside when it was finished, I was going to say something to him. I get that this is your social time but your antics are distracting and it affects the experience for the rest of the people in the room. You aren't funny and it pisses off the people who are there to get a good workout. I like the class, I want to go to it, but I CAN'T STAND that guy.

After class I ran over to Whole Foods, then to Vitamin Shoppe to get some supplements (Amazon sent the wrong ones), then it was time to shower and go to the outlet mall!

Yes, while Kev is away I always go to the outlet mall. It's my treat to be able to walk around and look at stuff for hours. :)

I've been looking for a dress to wear for our anniversary dinner next weekend. It's our 10th and we'll be in Washington DC (brother and dog still here, don't try and rob me) We're going to the Prime Rib and it's jacket required so I needed something nice. I'm wanted to base it around these shoes I got from Sole Society

I know, right???

I've been to several malls, Nordstrom, ordered a dress online (nope) and couldn't find anything, I was hopeful the outlet mall would be the answer and sadly, it was not. I actually left with 0 purchases and I'm pretty sure this is the first time in my life that has ever happened.

I'm pretty solidly in between sizes in most places. Mediums button, but unattractively and Larges are a little bit too big. Believe me, if that wasn't the case, I would have spent quite a but at Express. EVERYTHING WAS 50% OFF!

Large on the left, medium on the right

I was bummed and took my sadness to Trader Joe's in Chapel Hill on the way home. It was close to what I might call the 7th circle of hell. Full of people wandering aimlessly and constantly in my way. I came in annoyed to start and that didn't help. This is why I stay in Raleigh...

I picked up a watermelon and it was full of disappointment just like the rest of the day had been.

You failed me.

After I got home, I sulked for a while and decided to try Clothes Mentor, which is a consignment store. I didn't find a dinner dress, but I did pick up a grey and white stripped dress that will be a great transition piece for the fall. Stripes, they're my kryptonite.

I woke up Sunday determined to have a better day. I started with my coffee and some blueberry pancakes.

I drove a bit out of my way to a Body Pump class at the gym near my work. It started at 1135am and I wanted to get it out of the way instead of going to my usual 230pm class. It was good, I actually did a back bend for the first time in maybe 15 years.

Kev said I should go to the place "where all the stores are far away". I assumed he meant Cameron Village, so there I went. My first stop was Fifi's Consignment Shop. SUCCESS!!!

They do this thing where anything that's been in the store greater than 30 days is 50% off. That made this dress $12!!! Shopping win!! (And I didn't do my hair all weekend.)

I also found dress at Ivy and Leo that's another great fall transition piece.

I brought a Jenny Craig tuna salad kit in case I got hungry for lunch and I sat on a bench and ate it. Look, when you had a bad weigh in, you give 0 Fs if someone wants to judge you for eating a tuna cracker on a bench.

I stopped at Tin Roof Teas and got some tea that has gummy bears in it, and I found this!

After my ghetto work iced coffee last week, this looked like a much better alternative.

I also picked up a suitcase that I can actually use as a carry-on instead of always having to check my luggage.

I'm flying to DC and Kev is going to meet me there. I fly at few times a year and I'm tired of always checking my bag. I finally adulted and got something I could actually carry. And it's purple paisley.

On my way home I stopped and got groceries and ANOTHER watermelon.

Dinner was JC turkey plus more green beans. The turkey dinner is quite good but it wrecks havoc with my food touching issues.

There's nothing I can do to separate the stuffing from the potato from the turkey. I just need my food to be in compartments.

Now it's time for the Closing Ceremonies!

I hope everyone had a great weekend!
