Scenes from the Weekend

I swear, this weekend went abnormally fast. Is it just me? It's probably not just me. I need a vacation. We haven't really gone away since March and lordy am I feeling it. I just have to hold on until the end of August when we go away for our 10th anniversary. Just a few more weeks...

Alright, on to the weekend. Friday  night Kev was playing in a tennis tournament and afterwards he was planning on playing poker. I was heading over to a friend's house for a girls night, but first I stopped at the salon to get my nails done. I was in the mood for green this week.

OPI - One in a Windmillion

The girls night was a combo Lularoe and CR2F party. My friend Christy started selling Lularoe a few months ago and any chance I have to try on new clothes? Ya, I'm gonna take it. :)

When your manicure matches your new CR2F mug...

I've mentioned my friend Carrie and her Etsy shop before. If you want some super cute prints, check out her stuff. I'm in lurve with my new mug.

We had a Mini OG Kappa Delta Alumnae Chapter reunion and it was great to catch up with friends I hadn't seen in a while. I ended up leaving kinda late and I went straight to bed when I got home. #FridayNight.

Per usual, it was up at 730am to go to my Jenny Craig appointment. I still had a loss but it wasn't awesome. I was really really tired though. I'm convinced that tiredness affects weight loss. When I'm well rested, I lose more.

Caught a pokemon while waiting for my consultant.

After I got my Jenny food, I headed next door to Kroger to get my fruits and veggies for the week. I never went there the last time, but Kroger did a 180 or something and the prices on their fruit and veggies are really reasonable. They've had $1.99lb cherries for the last 2 weeks, which has been awesome

I also found this gem.

Oh yes. boozy sparkling water. It's delightful.

Usually I get home, eat breakfast and go to my 1010am Body Pump class. I was really really tired and didn't think I'd have a good time at the gym. Instead Kev convinced me to come to his tennis tournament. It'll be great, you can watch me play in the 100+ degree heat. (It wasn't great. he fibbed)

Kev and his mixed doubles partner.

It was hot AF. The matches were running late, they got to to court late, their opponents wanted to warm up FOREVER. I was sitting on the concrete bleachers in the shade and as the match went on and on, the shade kept getting smaller and smaller until I was pressed up against the fence hiding from the beating sun. I now know how vampires facing the dawn must feel.

Finally i thought the game was done, like done done and Kev said that was only the first set and they could possibly have 2 more to go. I might have panicked and after he served, I went to the car. Then I went to the Publix  1 mile away and got an apple and a water. By the time I was in the parking lot, Kev texted that the match was over. It was soooo much sorter than the first.

My tired self as getting crankier and crankier and after we got home, I took a 2 hour nap.

We had reservations that night at the Capital Grille. It just opened and Kev had been waiting to go. We'd been to the one in Pittsburgh and knew it was going to be good.

Yes, I didn't have a great weigh in and then I ate my face in bread and booze. You know what. it was so worth it. I won't gain at my next weigh in, but I'm going to have to work a little harder to take off that meal.

One of 2. It was good. Not the best Cosmo I've had in Raleigh, but top 5.

Kev wanted to try the tuna tartare appetizer and it was chopped tuna on top of chopped avocado. It's been a while, but we had a similar tuna appetizer in NYC years ago, and this is our favorite version of tuna tartare. So good.

They had steak tartare on the menu, but I had it at the Pittsburgh location and it wasn't awesome. Good not great. Instead I went with the fillet (Pittsburgh Rare) and Kev had the Strip Steak.

Fillet and Kev's au gratin side dish.

Kev's Steak

I ordered the brussel sprouts but asked them to leave off the soy glaze. They did something else to them where they almost seemed deep fried? Meh, I sent them back because I couldn't eat them. I wish they had a plain old veggie side option. Everything had cream or some kind of sauce.

Kev wanted the cheesecake and it's made in house and has a brulee top.

yum.

The Capital Grille is a welcome steak house addition to the Triangle. That -ish ain't cheap, but damn is it good.

We got home, I was still tired and wasn't awake long.

Sunday morning I got to sleep in. Cleo started the night in our room and I kicker her out around 1am. She was walking and jingling her tags and kept waking me up, so out she went. After she left, I slept pretty well until Kev got up at 630 to go the the rest of the tennis tournament (I did NOT go with)

Normal Sunday morning. Tidy the kitchen, do laundry, get my coffee, eat my JC breakfast Scramble...

I ran down to Trader Joe's for some groceries and went to the gym. I ran 2.3 miles on the treadmill before Body Flow. Let me tell you, there are ladies in there who are hard core about their spots. I get it, I have my spot too, but apparently 2 other ladies like that spot as well. I'm not going to be an a-hole, but I go to that damn class every. week. and they don't. Don't try and weasel in on my spot. I managed to get it on Sunday and there were 2 annoyed ladies on either side of me. #DontFWithMySpot.

Now I'm blogging and not wanting to fold laundry. :)

How was your weekend?

  2. I love the color of your nails.
I dont know how they played in this heat. I saw a lot of races canceled this weekend. Scary dangerous weather to exert yourself.
Yeah - Kroger is great on produce in the summer. Winter? RIDICULOUS> I've paid $5.00 for a pint of strawberries. Sigh.

    1. I have no idea how or why they played last weekend, It was just dumb. We had a chat about how tournaments are fun, just like running races, but there's a reason why they don't schedule races here from the beginning of June until the first week of September.

  4. Haha I am weird about my spot at certain times too!!! That filet and cheesecake look delicious!! Filet is my favorite kind of steak to order no matter where I go. Our cherries had been $1.99 per pound for the last few weeks too but now they are climbing back up again. Nooooo!!! Cherry season is my favorite time for fruit and I guess it is about over. Still loving plumbs and $1.99 per lb grapes though!

    1. I need my spot. I just do. lol. And it changes by class. For pump I like to be slightly off to the right of the instructor in the middle. Combat, far left and up front. There's no rhyme or reason. lol.

  6. I, too, loathe cutting pineapple. This might just be the trick.
Bitches that take spots deserve to be cut. Our office is moving at the end of August, then again in October (it's complicated), and I'm wondering if we will shuffle quadmates, or keep our same set up. Part of me wants to switch it up. Part of me is ok with my current situation with Drummy McDrummerson.

    1. I really wanted to cut the b---h who took my spot last week. I know in Combat class, where I like to stand is where some regulars are. They don't appear to be fans of me being there.
