Cooking with Essential Oils

Ok, my laptop is in the car so I'm going to try blogging on my iPad. The last time I had a blog, I had to rely on actual computers. Or maybe I wasn't as technologically savvy. Who knows, I'm probably still not, I just found an app that can apparently do it for me. Then again, after insist send this might be all jacked up.

I headed back to the gym yesterday after 8 days off from the detox and went to Body Pump class. Oh Pump, how I missed you. I was super brilliant and upped my squat weights. Surprisingly, those aren't the sad muscles today, it's my chest. I've done that track several times too and never had an issue. At least it's a good sore.

Tonight I went to Cross Fire Class and then stopped by the mall to get my bib for the Komen Race on Saturday, but more on that later, on to the food part.

I need protein. I need meat and fish and I hate lentils. I'd rather take a sharp stick to my eye than have another damn lentil. So, I'm transitioning to meat a few days earlier. As long as it's grass-fed, wild caught it's all good.

Yesterday I took out some cod and spent part of today looking at Pinterest trying to figure out how to cook it. I discovered that butter is always involved as is some other spice. Perfect, I have those things. Then I was contemplating adding some sort of essential oils and thought either Lemon or Lime would be perfect. I gathered up some ingredients. (That's some EVOO in the background but Kevin accidentally bought some Rachel Ray brand oil and I seriously can't stand her.) then again I don't really care for most people on the Food Network. Eh, there, I said it.

I sprinkled some salt and pepper on them and seared the fish in a pan for a few minutes on each side.

Then I put them on a pan to bake in the oven and before I did, melted some butter and added 3 drops of Lemon Essential Oil and brushed it on the fish. The oils added a really nice lemony flavor without overpowering the butter and fish. 3 drops was really lemony and I would probably only do 2 next time.

Paired with some roasted broccoli, it was a delicious combo.

I have to keep reminding myself that essential oils have a multitude of uses other than smelling, diffusing and rubbing on places that have owies. I'm planning a big brunch on Sunday and am already thinking about what I can use!
